Wright’s Repairs is the home repair division of Wright’s Renovations, the design-build company at 7101 Platt Road in Ypsilanti. A licensed residential builder sends one of its own carpenters, in a marked van, for work that takes an afternoon instead of a season. Every job below has its own page, with the scope, the boundaries and the things that move the price written down before you pick up the phone.
Home repair services built by a renovation company
For years the answer to a cracked ceiling or a door that would not latch was no. Our crews were framing home additions and rebuilding kitchens on schedules booked months ahead, and a two-hour repair does not fit inside a twelve-week build. Founder Connor Wright spent three years saying no to the same request. Repairs is the answer to it.
The standard did not move. The carpenter who patches your hallway works to the finish our renovation foremen sign off on. The license number printed on a repair invoice is the number on a basement finishing contract. The warranty is written on the invoice rather than implied in conversation, and it runs a year on workmanship.
What changed is the size of the job and the speed of the answer. You send photos, you get a written ceiling on the price, you get a date. Nobody walks your house for forty minutes to quote a running toilet.
Every repair we handle, sorted by trade

Bathroom repair
The biggest group in the catalog and the one the phone rings about first. Toilets that run all night, valves that will not hold a temperature, a surround pulling away from the wall, grout that has given up in the corners. Seventeen bathroom jobs are scoped on the bathroom repair hub.
Door repair and installation
Michigan houses move with the seasons and a door is where you feel it first. We plane, shim and rehang while the slab is sound, and we set a new unit when it is not. Twelve door jobs, including the accessibility work, are listed on the door repair hub.
Trim and finish carpentry
Baseboard that never got run after the floor went in. A railing that moves under a hand. Shelving cut to the closet instead of bought to fit it. Finish carpentry is the trade our renovation crews live in, and the trim carpentry hub lists the pieces of it we sell by the visit.
Deck repair
Soft boards, a railing that gives when you lean on it, skirting a raccoon has opened up. We repair decks we did not build. We will also tell you when a frame has passed the point where patching is the cheaper answer, and then the deck repair hub says so plainly.
Exterior repair
Water landing beside a foundation instead of away from it, and the morning after a storm when an opening has to be closed before the next band arrives. The exterior repair hub covers the outside work that does not need a full crew and a dumpster.
Drywall repair
Holes, nail pops, water stains, damaged corner bead and texture that has to be matched so the patch disappears under paint. Kitchen repair

Window repair

Interior painting
One room, one ceiling, a stairwell nobody can reach, or the trim after a repair. We paint what we fix, which is the difference between a patch that disappears and a patch that reads as a lighter rectangle for the next decade. Prep standards are on the interior painting hub.
Floor repair and installation

Light fixture installation
Fixture swaps, ceiling fans, vanity bars and exterior lanterns on circuits that already exist. New circuits, panel work and anything living behind a switch box belongs to a licensed electrician, and we say that before we quote rather than after. Read the line on the light fixture installation hub.
Minor plumbing repair
Supply lines, shutoff valves, traps, disposals and fixture swaps at the rough-in that is already in the wall. Moving a drain, opening a chase or touching the main stack is a different trade under a different license. The minor plumbing repair hub draws that boundary.
Four services sit across the whole house rather than under one trade. Dryer vent cleaning and dryer vent replacement deal with the run between the machine and the outside wall. Repair packages for the weeks that arrive with a list

Getting a house to fit the person in it
Grab bars set into blocking rather than drywall anchors. A threshold taken out so a walker clears it. A tub turned into a shower before someone comes home from a hospital. These are scoped around a person and a house, not a product list.
Closings, listings and turnovers
An inspection report with fourteen items on it. A listing photographer booked for Thursday. A tenant out Friday and another one in Monday. We work from the report or the walkthrough list and hand back a signed copy with each line marked done.
Before the freeze and after the thaw
Michigan gives you about two weekends of warning before a hard freeze and roughly the same before the ground lets go in spring. These visits get ahead of both, and the annual check is how a small thing gets caught while it is still small.
Alarms, water lines and new rooms
Alarms with in-date batteries on every level. Washer supply lines swapped for braided stainless before one lets go behind a wall. A crib wall anchored. A desk, a monitor arm and a light that works for a camera.
Photos first, then a written ceiling, then a date
Nobody should lose a Tuesday morning to an estimate visit for a running toilet. We quote from what you send, in writing, with a number the invoice cannot exceed without your say-so.

One wide shot of the room, one close on the problem, and a few seconds of video if the thing moves, drips or makes a noise. That is usually enough.

You get a written range for the work and a ceiling the invoice will not pass. If we find something behind the wall, we stop and call you before the number changes.

A two-hour arrival window, a text when the van leaves, and the invoice, warranty statement and payment handled before it pulls away.
What happens on every job, even a 45-minute one
The paperwork on a $280 repair looks like the paperwork on a kitchen. That is deliberate, and it is the part most repair outfits skip.
Thirty minutes from Platt Road, by address
Repairs runs a tighter radius than our renovation crews, because a 90-minute drive turns a one-hour fix into a half-day charge. Zones are measured by drive time from the shop at 7101 Platt Road, not by city limit.
Zone one, inside ten minutes
Same-week scheduling in most months. Covers Ypsilanti, Pittsfield Township, Superior Township and east Ann Arbor.
Zone two, ten to twenty minutes
Grouped by day so the drive is shared across jobs. Covers Saline, Dexter, Belleville, Van Buren Township and Canton.
Zone three, twenty to thirty minutes
Booked on set days of the week. Covers Chelsea, Milan, Plymouth and Northville.
Outside that ring, our renovation side still travels. Design-build work runs across Washtenaw County and Wayne County, and out into Monroe and Oakland County for larger projects. If a repair address falls outside the ring, say so when you write and we will tell you straight whether it is worth the trip.
What we will tell you no to
A repair company that says yes to everything is telling you something about its license. We do not sell waterproofing systems, interior drain tile, crack injection, foundation repair or mold remediation, and we will not quote them to keep a call. We do not add electrical circuits, change a panel or upgrade a service. Gas piping and the main stack go to the trades licensed for them.
Roof replacement is not repair work, though a storm board-up is. On houses built before 1978, federal rules require a certified firm to follow set work practices when paint is disturbed, and we scope around that rather than around it.

If it turns into a project, you are already in the right building
Sometimes a patch visit finds a bigger answer. A bathroom where three fixtures are failing at once is usually a remodel argument, not a repair one, and the same crew that would quote a bathroom renovation is down the hall. The handoff costs you nothing and repeats none of the diagnosis.
That road runs both ways through new deck construction, custom carpentry, millwork and trim and commercial projects. Our finished projects show where it ends up, and the people who work here are the same either way.
What homeowners ask us first
Is this a handyman service
No, and the difference is who shows up. A handyman franchise sends a generalist, often a 1099 contractor, working to whatever standard that office sets. Wright’s Repairs sends a Wright’s employee trained on the finish our renovation foremen sign off on, backed by a licensed builder’s insurance and a written one-year warranty. The trade-off is real. We are more expensive than the cheapest van in the county, and we will decline work outside our license.
How can you price a repair you have not seen
Because we have done the job several hundred times. Photos and a short video answer most of what a visit would answer, and the written ceiling covers the rest of the risk. If what we find behind the wall changes the work, we stop, photograph it and call you before the number moves. You approve the change or you do not.
What is the smallest job you will take
There is a minimum visit charge, and a single loose towel bar will not clear it on its own. Most people save up a list. Five or six items in one visit is the shape that makes the economics work for both sides, and it is why the packages above exist.
Do you work in commercial buildings
Yes, for tenant spaces, offices, clinics and small retail inside the same drive-time ring. Occupied hours, certificates of insurance and building management requirements are all normal for us on the renovation side, and they carry over here.
Who actually comes to the house
A W-2 Wright’s technician in a marked van, background checked, with a name you get in the confirmation text before the visit. On a multi-visit package it is the same person where the schedule allows, because the second visit is faster when someone already knows the house.
Can you use materials I already bought
Usually, and it will lower the invoice. Two cautions. We warranty our labor on an owner-supplied part but not the part itself, and if the item turns out to be wrong for the rough-in, the visit still gets billed. Send a photo of the box before the date and we will flag a mismatch early.

A useful habit before you submit: walk the house with your phone and note everything that has been bugging you. One visit for six small things costs far less than six visits for one.
