Kitchen remodeling
Open the kitchen to the family room, move the sink to the view side, and run an island long enough for homework and a Friday crowd. Layout first, then custom cabinets built to the wall you actually have.

Two townships, one name
Around Commerce, Long and Lower Straits lakes, cottages became year-round homes one addition at a time. East toward Haggerty Road and M-5, the subdivisions arrived in the 1990s with the finishes the builder chose. The work is different, so the drawings are.
The lower level looks at the lake and wants to be a walkout. The kitchen sits on the road side, away from the view. Rooms were added over decades, so floor heights, roof pitches and insulation change at every doorway, and the spring water table decides what the basement can become.
We start with the grading, the sump and the township's shoreline setbacks, then draw a walkout basement renovation or a four-season room that finally turns the house toward the water.
Two-story foyer, oak kitchen with a peninsula, a primary bath with a garden tub nobody fills, and an unfinished basement under all of it. Nothing is failing. The finishes have reached the end of their first life, and the floor plan closes off rooms a family now wants open.
The most common project here is a kitchen remodel that removes the peninsula for an island and opens the wall to the family room, followed by the primary bathroom and a finished basement the kids grow into.
Seven ways in
Same drawing set, same line-item proposal, same crew standards, whether the job is one bathroom or the whole lower level.

Estimate a kitchenTrade the garden tub for a walk-in shower with a linear drain, add heated tile floors for January mornings, and plan the room so it still works at 75. Waterproofing behind every tile.
Bathroom costs in MichiganDaylight, code egress and moisture handled before framing. Guest suites, offices and wet bars with the mechanicals kept reachable.
Estimate a basementA sunroom toward the water, an in-law suite on the main floor, or a second story where the lot will not allow more footprint.
Estimate an additionComposite decks on footings set below Michigan's frost line, and porches that keep the lake evenings and lose the mosquitoes.
Outdoor kitchens tooSome jobs are a day, not a season. Our Repairs division handles deck repair, window repair, drywall, doors and repair packages priced for one visit, with the same crew standards as a remodel.

A Wright's proposal is a line-item budget: what the tile costs, what the plumber costs, what moving a wall costs, before demolition starts. These Southeast Michigan ranges show how wide a project can run and what moves it.
A second story runs toward the top of the range because the structure below it has to carry the load.
Addition permits in MichiganMichigan's frost line sets the footing depth, and the railing detail moves the price more than the boards do.
Monthly payment optionsRanges are a starting point, not a quote. The walkthrough puts a number on your house, and the proposal shows every line behind it.
One team, four stages
Our design-build process keeps the person who draws your kitchen in the same room as the carpenter who builds it, from the first walkthrough to the last inspection.
We measure, listen and talk about what the space needs to do, then put a scope and a budget range in writing.
Drawings, finishes and a line-item proposal. Tile, cabinets and fixtures are chosen before demolition, so the budget you approve is the budget you pay.
We file with the Commerce Charter Township Building Department and schedule every inspection. Lake lots are checked against shoreline setbacks before drawings are final.
One crew, one project lead, a schedule you can read. Change orders happen when you change your mind, not when we find something we should have seen.

Common questions
Short answers here. Longer ones on the walkthrough, where we can see the house.
Wright's does. Building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical permits go through the Commerce Charter Township Building Department, and we schedule the inspections. Lake lots are also checked against shoreline and side-yard setbacks before drawings are final. Our guide to renovation permits in Southeast Michigan explains what each inspection covers.
Yes, when the water is handled first. We look at grading, the sump and the history of the space before anyone frames a wall, and the finish specifies moisture-tolerant materials at the slab. A walkout toward the lake adds daylight and a second entrance, which turns a basement into a floor the family uses.
Usually, and the first step is finding out what is under the existing additions. We open the floor and roof framing where old meets new, check the footings and insulation, and draw the new room so the floor heights finally line up. On a tight lot, the design works inside the township's setbacks rather than counting on a variance.
Yes. The village of Wolverine Lake, Walled Lake, Wixom and the Union Lake neighborhoods all sit inside our Oakland County service area, along with West Bloomfield, Milford and Novi. Our crews work across Washtenaw, Wayne, Oakland, Livingston, Macomb and Monroe counties, from our shop at 7101 Platt Rd in Ypsilanti.

Every Wright’s client gets a JobTread portal when the contract is signed. It’s the same view your project manager works from, so nothing about the job sits behind a phone call you have to make.
The crew posts photos every working day. Check progress from a meeting or from the airport gate.
The schedule goes in before construction starts and updates as tasks close, so you always know what week you’re in and what’s next on the four-phase build.
Proposal, contract, change orders and invoices live together, with a record of who approved what and when. No digging through email.
