Michigan kitchen expertise

Kitchens designed for Michigan living

Michigan homes have unique demands that out-of-state designers miss. From humidity control to entertaining during Lions games, we understand how Southeast Michigan families actually use their kitchens.

Humidity-resistant materials

Michigan’s humid summers and dry winters wreak havoc on cheap materials. We select cabinets, countertops, and flooring rated for climate extremes, preventing warping, cracking, and premature wear.

Open-concept integration

Many Michigan homes feature cramped, closed-off kitchens. We safely remove load-bearing walls to create open layouts that connect kitchen, dining, and living spaces for modern entertaining.

Multi-county permit expertise

Kitchen remodels often require electrical, plumbing, and gas permits. We handle the paperwork across Washtenaw, Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, and Monroe counties so you don’t have to.

Local supplier relationships

Our partnerships with Michigan cabinet makers, countertop fabricators, and appliance dealers mean better selection, faster delivery, and priority service when you need warranty support.

Common questions

Kitchen remodel FAQs

Planning a kitchen remodel raises important questions about costs, timelines, materials, and logistics. We’ve answered the most common questions here, but our team is always happy to discuss your specific situation.

Every kitchen is unique. Schedule a consultation to discuss your specific remodel plans and get personalized answers.

How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Michigan?

Kitchen remodel costs in Southeast Michigan typically range from $75,000 to $150,000+ for a complete renovation, depending on scope, materials, and layout changes. Custom cabinetry alone can range from $15,000 to $50,000, while premium countertops and backsplash typically run $5,000 to $20,000. We provide detailed, fixed-price proposals after our design consultation.

How long does a kitchen remodel take?

A complete kitchen remodel typically takes 6-10 weeks once construction begins. Simple cosmetic updates like new countertops and backsplash might take 2-3 weeks, while kitchens requiring layout changes, structural modifications, or new islands take longer. Our detailed project timeline is established before construction begins, with milestones tracked in your project portal.

Can I use my kitchen during remodeling?

For complete remodels, you won’t have a functional kitchen for several weeks. We help clients set up temporary kitchens with microwave, refrigerator, and hot plates in another room. Our dust containment systems with HEPA filtration keep construction debris from spreading throughout your home. Many clients find the temporary inconvenience well worth the final result.

Should I get stock, semi-custom, or custom cabinets?

Stock cabinets offer the fastest delivery and lowest cost but limited sizes and finishes. Semi-custom cabinets provide more options while remaining affordable. Custom cabinets are built to your exact specifications with unlimited finish and size options, plus premium features like soft-close hinges and dovetail joints. For most Southeast Michigan homeowners seeking lasting quality, we recommend semi-custom or custom cabinet solutions.

What countertop material is best for kitchens?

Quartz remains the most popular choice for its durability, low maintenance, and consistent appearance. Granite offers natural beauty and heat resistance. Marble provides timeless elegance but requires more maintenance. Butcher block adds warmth and can be refinished. During our design consultation, we discuss how each material performs for your cooking style and maintenance preferences.

Do I need permits for a kitchen remodel?

Permits are typically required when moving plumbing, adding electrical circuits, removing walls, or installing gas lines. Cosmetic updates like painting and cabinet replacement usually don’t require permits. Our team handles all permit applications, inspections, and code compliance across Washtenaw, Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, and Monroe counties. We ensure your kitchen meets all Michigan building codes.

What ROI can I expect from a kitchen remodel?

Kitchen remodels typically return 50-80% of their cost at resale, with minor refreshes often achieving higher percentages than gut renovations. But the real value is in daily enjoyment—a functional, beautiful kitchen transforms how you cook, entertain, and gather as a family. We help you balance investment with features that deliver both personal satisfaction and market appeal. Visit our portfolio to see completed projects.

Kitchen work by town and by room

Pricing and permits shift from one town to the next. Kitchen remodeling in Dexter and kitchen remodels in Plymouth each have their own page.

Ann Arbor homeowners can price a project themselves with the Ann Arbor kitchen cost tool, and an open kitchen usually pulls the dining room into the same scope.
