Why Wright’s

A different kind of contractor.

We’re a design-build firm, which means we plan and we build — under one roof, one contract, one team. Here’s what that means for you.

Design-build under one roof.

Architect, designer, project manager, and crew on one team. No finger-pointing between trades, no scope-creep handoffs, no surprises on day 60.

How we work

Track your project in real time.

Every Wright’s project runs on JobTread. You see the schedule, the budget, the change orders, and daily photos — the same view your project manager has.

See the dashboard

Built to outlast the trend cycle.

Every Wright’s renovation comes with a 5-year craftsmanship warranty, on top of manufacturer warranties on materials. We stand behind what we build because we build it to be stood behind.

Common DNA

Both kitchens were designed for the same household — a family of four who cook every night and host twice a month. The scope diverged because one had load-bearing constraints; the budgets diverged because the homeowners had different five-year horizons. The brief never changed.

Frequently asked

The questions every homeowner should be asking.

Materials & craftsmanship

The work behind the work, spelled out.

A finished kitchen looks like a finished kitchen — until something in it fails. The standards below are what separate a Wright’s renovation from one that merely looks the same on day one.

Wright’s Standard 01

Cabinet boxes built to outlast the kitchen they’re in.

Particleboard cabinets fail at the screw — silently, and usually right after the warranty ends. Wright’s specs furniture-grade plywood boxes with dovetailed drawer joinery and Blum soft-close hardware on every project. The result is a kitchen that still operates like new in year fifteen.

Box construction 3/4″ furniture-grade plywood
Drawer joinery English dovetail, all four corners
Hardware Blum soft-close, full extension
Finish Conversion varnish, 30-year warranty
Standard 02

Waterproofed beneath the surface.

Tile sealed at the grout line is only the visible defense. Schluter Kerdi membrane behind every wet wall is the one that actually keeps water out — and the one most contractors skip to save 1% of the budget.

Standard 03

Trim that won’t crack at the corners.

Cheap trim is butt-jointed and caulked, which means it cracks at the first temperature swing. Wright’s mitered returns and pre-finished joinery hold their line through Michigan winters and summers alike.

Standard 04

Electrical and plumbing brought to code-plus.

Code is the floor, not the spec. Dedicated circuits for high-draw appliances, GFCIs at every wet area, and quarter-turn valves at every fixture mean fewer service calls and a safer house long after handoff.

Standard 05

Paint with a documented prep schedule.

A finish coat hides everything for 30 days and reveals everything after that. Wright’s prep schedule — sand, fill, prime, sand, two finish coats — is the same on every project, written into the scope, and signed off before paint touches the wall.

The team

A small company by design — and on purpose.

Wright’s intentionally runs lean. Every name on this page works on every project. The trade-off is fewer concurrent jobs and more attention paid to the ones in progress.

12
Full-time team members across leadership, design & field
8
Concurrent active jobs at any given time

The team grows two or three people a year, on purpose. If a small company that pays well and runs clean job sites sounds right, the application takes ten minutes.

Common questions

Everything homeowners ask before starting a renovation

Can’t find the answer here? The Wright’s team is happy to walk through every detail during a free consultation.

Ask us anything

Most kitchen remodels take 10 to 16 weeks from demolition to final walkthrough, depending on scope. The team provides a detailed visual timeline during the planning phase so homeowners can track every milestone. Custom cabinetry or structural changes may extend that window, and the proposal covers the exact schedule for each project.

For most projects, no. Wright’s Renovations maintains clean job site standards and contains work areas so families can continue living comfortably. For larger whole-home remodels, the team helps plan the most practical living arrangements and coordinates noisy work around daily schedules.

Wright’s Renovations serves six counties across Southeast Michigan: Washtenaw, Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, and Monroe. The team is headquartered in Ypsilanti and works in communities including Ann Arbor, Birmingham, Northville, Plymouth, Novi, Saline, Dexter, and dozens more.

Every project starts with a transparent, detailed proposal with no hidden fees. Payments follow a milestone-based schedule tied to project progress — homeowners pay as work reaches each verified milestone. The team walks through every line item during the proposal presentation.

Wright’s Renovations combines modern project management with traditional craftsmanship. Homeowners get real-time progress tracking, proactive communication, and specialized crews assigned by project type — not a rotating cast of subcontractors. The team’s design-build model means one point of contact from concept through completion.

The Wright’s difference

A complete kitchen and master suite addition in Ann Arbor

A 1960s colonial in Burns Park needed more space without losing the neighborhood character that made the homeowners fall in love with it. The Wright’s Renovations team designed and built a 600-square-foot addition that looks like it was always part of the home — with a chef’s kitchen, expanded master suite, and a mudroom that handles Michigan’s worst weather.

The challenge

The original kitchen was a closed-off galley layout typical of 1960s construction — functional but isolating. The homeowners wanted an open-concept kitchen connected to a new master suite, but the home sat on a narrow lot with strict setback requirements.

The existing foundation required structural reinforcement before any addition could tie in, and the roofline needed to match the colonial aesthetic the Burns Park neighborhood is known for.

The solution

The team designed an L-shaped addition that maximized the buildable footprint while exceeding setback requirements. A structural steel beam allowed the load-bearing wall between kitchen and living room to be fully removed, creating a 28-foot sight line through the main living area.

Custom trim profiles were milled to match the home’s original 1960s millwork, and the new roofline was designed with matching pitch and overhang so the addition reads as original construction from the street.

What homeowners are saying

5.0
Based on 30+ verified client reviews

Connor showed us a virtual walkthrough of the planned renovation that made it easy to understand every change. The project tracking system let the whole family see real progress photos every day.

The basement had been a damp, cold storage room for twenty years. Katherine and the crew turned it into a space the kids actually want to hang out in. The waterproofing work alone was worth every penny.

Will walked through every line of the estimate and answered questions without a hint of impatience. After two other contractors ghosted after sending quotes, that alone was enough to earn the business.

The modern renovation experience

Every detail, engineered for clarity

Wright’s Renovations has rebuilt the contractor experience from the ground up. These are the systems that make it possible.

Visual project dashboards

Every homeowner gets access to a visual timeline showing exactly where the project stands — completed milestones, upcoming phases, and photo documentation at every checkpoint. No more wondering what happened today.

Specialized crew assignments

Projects are matched to crews with specific expertise — not whoever is available. Kitchen specialists handle kitchens. Addition crews handle structural work. The result is faster execution, fewer mistakes, and better outcomes.

Milestone-verified payments

Homeowners pay as work reaches documented milestones — not on a fixed schedule. Each milestone is verified through inspection and photo documentation before the next payment is triggered. The money follows the work, not the other way around.

Proactive communication

Homeowners receive updates before asking for them. Scheduled progress reports, same-day responses to questions, and advance notice of any changes. The team communicates like the project is their own home — because the standard should never be lower than that.

Start a conversation

Schedule a free in-home consultation

Every project begins with a conversation. The Wright’s Renovations team visits the home, listens to the vision, evaluates the space, and provides an honest assessment — with no obligation and no pressure.

Zero obligation
The consultation is completely free. Homeowners receive honest guidance whether they move forward or not.
